Course title: AI Engineering as Design Engineering
Abstract: In this half-day course I will teach systematic design techniques for designing human-AI systems. We will cover the following topics: (1) understanding the system and clarifying the task; (2) managing complexity by abstracting a system at the functional level; (3) reasoning about automation and interactivity; (4) supporting interpretation and shared control; (5) using risk to drive design; and (6) designing for user adoption by considering appropriation and deployment.
